Kamet-Röbäcks, a merger of three Nordic companies, is an innovative supplier of concrete plants, prefab equipment, selected recycling solutions as well as lifecycle services that support these. Not only does the merger enable the new group to offer a wider range of products and services across national borders, but it will also open up new areas of application for Kamet-Röbäcks technologies.
The merger of the Finnish, Swedish and Norwegian companies has resulted in a new group with more commercial muscle and greater understanding of local markets. This benefits the customers, most of whom are based in Finland, Sweden and Norway, and whose projects are all over the world.
“Besides a wider range of products and services, we can now offer our customers much quicker assistance, as we are closer to them,” explains Erik Fahlgård, Account Manager at Kamet-Röbäcks. “We can avoid unnecessary travel, and also prevent misunderstandings, as we can communicate in the local language – an important factor in an industry as technical as ours.”
With its expanded sales network, plus a wide network of partners, the new group can offer comprehensive services and products for the concrete industry and environmental and recycling solutions in all three countries. The Norwegian unit also has special expertise in asphalt, based on long-term cooperation with customers and the Danish manufacturer of asphalt plants, KVM.
Peter Westman, Business Area Director, Environmental & Mining, highlights the environmental and recycling segment as an increasingly important bedrock for the company’s activities: “Our customers are often involved in carbon-intensive industries, and we want to help them reduce their emissions by increasing recycling, thereby also reducing the amount of material sent to landfill.”
Kamet-Röbäcks is best known for its concrete plants, which enjoy a leading position in the Nordic market due to their high quality, reliability and advanced control system.
“We serve customers in a range of industries, so the factories are most often used to remove hazardous substances from various materials. This may involve separating metal from construction waste or ashes, or neutralising sulphidic clay in soil. However, one of our plants was bought by a confectionery manufacturer, which certainly demonstrates a wide range of application,” recounts Fahlgård with a smile.
Our customers are often involved in carbon-intensive industries, and we want to help them reduce their emissions by increasing recycling.
Kamet-Röbäcks has developed a powerful recycling concept for the Norwegian market, where the industry-specific monitoring requirements are stricter than in Sweden or Finland. In brief, the main objective of the concept is to reduce the amount of contaminated water and ballast material going to landfill by reusing as much as possible.
“Our ability to convert industrial waste to reusable raw materials is not just financially advantageous for our customers. It also helps to reduce environmental impact,” explains Westman.
The requirements are also gradually being tightened in Finland and Sweden, and Fahlgård can also see great potential for Kamet-Röbäcks in this area. Summing up the synergy effects of the merger, he concludes: “The modular concrete plant solutions primarily developed in Finland and the recycling solutions that we have developed in Sweden make up an overall package that benefits our customers.”
